3D Horizons wields a three-fold approach to address the needs of disabled individuals by way of harnessing the power of assistive technology, infrastructure improvements, and direct financial support, in order to both raise awareness and make an on-ground impact. The project leverages 3D printing technologies to create affordable and customized prosthetics while forging partnerships with NGOs working with people with disabilities to improve the infrastructure accessibility of their premises and nearby spaces.
The project also aims to develop original and accessible resources to raise awareness about disability and combat stigma. This includes a podcast series exploring the affordances of assistive technology in helping augment the functional capacities of disabled individuals, in addition to developing a series of children’s books with progressive narratives featuring disabled protagonists.
We also aim to undertake a crowd fundraiser, funds from which shall be dedicated to improving the accessibility of the infrastructure of the partner NGO. Through a multi-dimensional approach, 3D Horizons aims to create both immediate impact through direct assistance and long-term gradual change through awareness-generation.
